Do I need to have web design skills?
No, absolutely not. The form is designed to be easy to use for people with a wide array of internet skills. If you are having trouble, we offer email support. Those who have a bit of HTML knowledge will find a few extra formatting options available, but this is certainly not required.

What does it cost?
Event Homepages start at a flat rate of $199 for a do-it-yourself package. If you would like us to post the material for you, we're happy to do so for $299. For the full-service package, please allow up to 10 business days for all material to be posted.

Are there any monthly or annual fees?
No, absolutely not. We recognize that funding comes in waves and you don't want to have to pay maintenance fees for an event that's already happened. We charge a one-time fee and as long as we're still breathing your page will still be here. Fiscal sustainability is important in academia.

Can I change the design?
To some extent, yes. There are options to upload an image and it's up to you how much or little information you add to the page. But, for the most part, the design is fixed and your page will look and feel like the Academic News website. Since design is the most expensive aspect of an event website, we've removed that cost and passed the savings along to you.

How long will the page be accessible?
We guarantee your page will be available for 5 years after you create it. If we're still around after 5 years, so will be your webpage. We have no plans to remove it at any time. You can link your event homepage to your C.V. or faculty page with confidence.

Can I use my own domain name?
Not exactly. You can customize the URL within limits, but you cannot have your own unique domain name. For example, you can make the following URL: http://academic-news.org/popular-vancouver . But, you wouldn't be able to change it to http://mywebsite.com .

Is the URL stable?
The URL will stay the same unless you decide to change it by editing your Event Homepage. That means you can share the website address with confidence

Can I make updates myself?
Yes, you can log into Academic News and edit your own Event Homepages at any time, even if you originally selected the Full Service package and had us post your information for you

Are there discounts for graduate students?
We recognize money is tight when you are in graduate school. Events organized and hosted exclusively by graduate students are eligible for a 25% discount on Event Homepages.

Can you post material for me?
We do offer a Full Service package for which we will post your material sent by email. This package costs $299 and you should allow at least 10 business days in advance of your event - preferably longer - to ensure everything is posted in time. If you are interested in this option, send us a note via our Contact Form.

Can you write the material for me?
Unfortunately we do not currently operate a press-release service. If you are having trouble coming up with material on your own, take a look at our Sample Homepage or check out event posters around your department. The more information you can provide readers the better.

Will there be advertising on my Event Homepage?
There will be no advertising for external services on your Event Homepage.

If your institution, department or network wants to obtain a subscription to let your members have unlimited access to creating Event Homepages, this option is available on an annual basis. Please Contact Us for more details on pricing.
